According to Iran Press on Tuesday, as quoted by the Tass news agency, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, announced in a television interview with the “Russia 24” channel that cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is expanding at a high speed in all fields.
Shoigu added, “In the meeting we had with Masoud Pezeshkian, the newly elected president of Iran, and the Iranian Secretary of the National Security Council, we discussed and exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues, including the situation in Syria and Lebanon.”
He also pointed to the tragic incident of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and stated that this issue cannot be ignored at all.
Shoigu pointed out that issues related to the North-South transport corridor were also discussed in this meeting.
According to Iran Press, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, arrived in Tehran on Monday on a planned business trip with boosting bilateral relations and regional and international developments on the agenda.
During this trip, he had meetings with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian; Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council; and Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
