Early Tuesday, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that two Israeli soldiers were injured in a vehicle attack at a military checkpoint near Bethlehem in the West Bank. According to sources, the suspect managed to flee, prompting the Israeli army to conduct a widespread search operation in Bethlehem to locate the attacker.
An Israeli military statement confirmed the incident, stating, “A Palestinian vehicle breached a checkpoint in the Al-Khader area near Bethlehem, carrying out a ramming attack.” The statement added that the vehicle fled, and forces are now combing the area.
The Palestinian News Agency reported that Israeli forces deployed reinforcements in Al-Khader, particularly around the Grand Mosque, the Al-Balu’ Triangle, the Old Town, and the main gate area, where live ammunition was reportedly fired.
Sources indicate that Israeli forces are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby shops and have raided several homes around the Grand Mosque in their search for the suspect.
