Changing Names of Health Centers and Replacing “Al-Assad” and “Al-Ba’ath” in Syria
The Syrian Minister of Health, Maher al-Shara, in the caretaker government, has decided to
change the names of some health centers in Syria, replacing “Al-Assad” and “Al-Ba’ath” in their
names.
In a statement issued by the Syrian Minister of Health
it was stated: “Based on the decision of the General Command to assign the Ministry of Health to
manage hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in
accordance with the public interest, the following is decided:”
–Article 1:
The name of the General Authority of Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus is changed to: National University Hospital.
–Article 2:
The name of Al-Ba’ath University Hospital is changed to: Homs University Hospital.
–Article 3:
The name of Basil Al-Assad Hospital in Qardaha is changed to: National Hospital in Qardaha.
–Article 4:
The name of Basil Hospital in Al-Sukhnah, Homs Governorate, is changed to: National Hospital in Al-Sukhnah.
–Article 5:
The name of Basil Al-Assad Hospital in Al-Qaryatayn is changed to: National Hospital in Al-Qaryatayn.
–Article 6:
The name of Basil National Hospital in Talkalakh is changed to: National Hospital in Talkalakh.
–Article 7:
The name of the General Authority of Basil Heart Surgery Hospital in Damascus is changed to:
Damascus Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery.
–Article 8:
The name of the General Authority of Al-Assad Medical Hospital in Hama is
changed to: Hama Maternity and Children’s Hospital.
–Article 9:
The name of the General Authority of Basil Hospital in Salkhad is changed to: National Hospital in Salkhad.
– Article 10:
The name of the General Authority of Basil Al-Assad Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery in
Aleppo is changed to: Aleppo Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery.
–Article 11: The name of the General Authority of Basil Hospital in Tartous is changed to: Tartous National Hospital.
–Article 12: The name of the General Authority of Basil Al-Assad Hospital for Heart Diseases
and Surgery in Latakia is changed to: Latakia Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery.
–Article 13: The name of the General Authority of Al-Assad Hospital in Deir ez-Zor is changed
to: Deir ez-Zor National Hospital.
–Article 14:
The name of the General Authority of Martyr Mamdouh Abaza Hospital is changed to: Golan
National Hospital.
–Article 15:
The implementation of any decrees or decisions that contradict this decision is suspended.
–Article 16:
This decision is to be communicated to those responsible for its execution.
