Iran has condemned a senior US Republican senator’s “horrible” suggestion that Israel should use nuclear bombs on Gaza. Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani made the remarks in a post on X on Tuesday. Putin appoints Russian new government
Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed several more ministers and deputy prime ministers, according to the relevant presidential decrees. This is the first Russian government formed under the new procedure envisaged by the 2020 constitutional amendment. Before being appointed, all the candidates were considered and approved by parliament. Once approved by either of the houses of parliament, the candidates could not be rejected by the president. Some 450,000 Palestinians have fled Rafah since Israel ordered more of the city evacuated on Saturday, the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees said on Tuesday. Reports from the city suggest that Israeli forces are closing in on its densely-populated urban core.
