On Sunday, the new UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, officially took over his duties. Grundberg said he would do everything in his power to contribute to achieving peace in Yemen.
Grundberg addressed the Yemenis by saying, “We will work relentlessly in pursuit of peace, and we will remind all concerned parties of their joint responsibility toward Yemen’s future.”
Hans Grundberg will succeed Britain’s Martin Griffiths, who was appointed Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
