Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed during a phone call he received from the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, that the continuation of sustainable relations with the EU depends on observing mutual respect between the two sides, and not the influence of some external elements, especially US unilateral policies.
Raisi said that all countries should cooperate to form an Afghan government capable of achieving security, stability, development and peace, and to gain the confidence of the Afghan people.
The Iranian president pointed out that the absence of an inclusive Afghan government, with the participation of all nationalities, threatens the future of Afghanistan. He added, that it has been proven that the American intervention in Afghanistan did not provide security, but left nothing but war and destruction in this country.
In another context, Raisi expressed that the whole world witnessed that Iran was the only country that truly and seriously stood against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and that Major General Qasim Soleimani was a hero that fought terrorism in the region and the world. The Iranian President considered that European countries should have taken a fair stance towards his assassination.
Raisi noticed that despite the departure of the administration of former US President Donald Trump, the new administration under Joe Biden has not changed its policies towards Iran, as sanctions and pressures are still imposed on the country.
On the other hand, he said that the “non-constructive position” of the International Atomic Energy Agency violated the nuclear talks.
