In the same context, the Economic Authority is working to develop the port of Al-Tur affiliated to the authority in South Sinai Governorate, as it exploited it to receive oil rigs operating in the fields of the Gulf of Suez, for periodic maintenance work in the port and to operate the port and benefit from its geographical location, in addition to receiving live livestock ships, where the authority placed A special vision to restart the Al-Tor port and take advantage of its location through an agreement with a company working in the field of petroleum exploration in the Gulf of Suez, to attract used rigs and perform periodic maintenance for them through their presence in the Al-Tor port instead of carrying out maintenance work outside Egypt, which saves time and distance for companies worker.
The port of Al-Arish is one of the most important ports that are ready to play a vital role in the transport movement due to its strategic location on the Mediterranean Sea, in addition to being part of the ports of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which are integrated with the industrial zones, which facilitates the movement of import and export of goods for investors.
The Hebrew media said about the port after its development, “It will have great advantages that it provides to customers, especially since it is a strategic location, noting that the Egyptian port, after its development, will be a strong competitor to Israeli ports overlooking the Mediterranean.”
And the Israeli news website Port to Port, which specializes in transportation and communications, quoted Walid Gamal El-Din, head of the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal, as saying in statements to the Egyptian local press: “The work in the first phase of developing the port of Arish will end at the end of this year, and there is cooperation.” With several parties showing interest in the project thanks to the advantages offered by the seaport and its location.
