Imad Al-Adwan, 35, is a lawyer and a member of the Palestine Committee in the Jordanian Parliament.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported today that the lawmaker had his immunity revoked by Jordan’s Parliament.
The court hearing in “Israel” that was set for Sunday afternoon to debate the extension of Al-Adwan’s detention was canceled, and “Israel’s” Shin Bet verified that Al-Adwan’s detention was over, as per Israeli media.
Israeli news website Walla reported that an understanding with Jordan was reached under heavy diplomatic pressure by the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) and other parties, confirming that the lawmaker will be released and handed over to Jordan, and that Jordanian authorities will investigate further and prosecute the lawmaker,
Al-Adwan was arrested by Israeli occupation forces in April for alleged weapons and gold smuggling.
The incident came amid already elevated tensions between Amman and the Israeli occupation, particularly over the escalating violence against Palestinians and the IOF’s provocative raids on Al-Aqsa mosque.
