Iranian and Syrian foreign ministers have stressed in a phone call the need to implement bilateral agreements pitched during President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Syria.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Faisal Mekdad pointed out the positive outcomes of the visit and expressed their respective states’ determination to implement the recently inked deals.
Amir-Abdollahian also congratulated Syria on its restoration of diplomatic ties with Arab countries which he commended as “positive” and “constructive”.
Back in early May, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus as part of a two-day visit to the country.
President Al-Assad underlined, during the discussion with the Iranian President, that relations between the two countries are “rich in content and experiences,” as he further highlighted the stability of Iranian-Syrian relations in the face of stressful periods which culminated in “political and security” issues taking the Middle East by storm.
The Syrian President also emphasized that this overview of bilateralism is based on fixed underpinnings which follow from shared values: and most importantly the common interests of nations, their sovereignty, and independence.”
During the visit, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash announced that the two nations are discussing plans to create a joint bank in an effort to develop economic ties further.
It was also reported that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad signed 15 cooperation agreements.
