President Ebrahim Raisi expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperation with the United Nations to promote peace and security in the world and prevent suppression of nations.
In a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, President Raisi said the main mission and duty of the UN is to pay attention to the demands of the world nations for the establishment of justice, elimination of discrimination and poverty, and ensuring sustainable security.
He noted that the UN is also expected to prevent the greed of hegemons.
War mongering is the nature of the great powers, Raisi warned, saying the UN can play a leading role in preventing these dangerous procedures that disrupt global peace and stability.
He also expressed Iran’s readiness to participate in the efforts to promote peace and security in the world and prevent oppression against the nations.
Referring to the concern of the countries regarding the political and social future of Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria, as well as separatism in Africa under the shadow of greed and power-seeking of the domination system, Raisi highlighted the important role of the United Nations in preventing oppression against the people of those countries.
He also asked the UN chief to follow up and receive the news of Iran directly from the correct channels, saying the media outlets under the influence of the domination system do not present a correct image of Iran.
Raisi also highlighted Iran’s respect for gender justice and attention to women’s rights, and cited the significant presence of Iranian women and girls in various scientific, sports, social and cultural fields,
Guterres, for his part, expressed his interest in developing cooperation between the UN and Iran.
He also welcomed the positive developments in the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia as two countries that influence the stability of the region.
Appreciating Iran’s constructive role in the developments in Yemen, Guterres reaffirmed the UN’s support for Iran’s initiatives to end the crisis in Yemen.
