The head of the negotiating delegation of Sana’a, Mohammed Abdussalam, confirmed on Thursday that the current round of negotiations with Saudi Arabia is part of the discussions held by the national delegation with the Saudi delegation.
Abdul Salam said the new round of negotiations with Saudi Arabia comes with “the thanks and appreciated support of the siblings in the Sultanate of Oman.”
The most prominent file, which will be discussed with the Saudi side, is the humanitarian file, which is to pay salaries, open the airport and ports, and release all prisoners and detainees.
Abdussalam added that among the files that will be put on the table are the exit of foreign forces and the reconstruction of Yemen in order to reach a comprehensive political solution.
He stressed that the negotiating delegation of Sana’a was working to obtain the just rights of the Yemeni people and to end instability.
Earlier today, a member of Ansar Allah’s political bureau, Ali Al-Qahem, stressed that “optimism exists”, adding that “the success of Omani mediation and efforts to achieve peace in Yemen is not unlikely.”
Prior to the launch of the Yemeni negotiating delegation to Riyadh, the President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, Mehdi al-Mashat, said that the national delegation would complete consultations in Riyadh, Sana’a, and Muscat, most recently in the holy month of Ramadan.”
The President of the Government of Sana’a, Abdul Aziz bin Habtur, confirmed days ago that Omani mediation is “honest with all parties but has limited influence”, stating that the countries of the Saudi coalition are “concerned with initiative and exit from war.
The Omani delegation sponsored discussions in Sana’a between the Government of Sana’a and an official Saudi delegation, headed by the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber, last April, which lasted 6 days, examined the humanitarian file and ceasefire in Yemen, and initiated a comprehensive Yemeni political process.
