- Ayman Nobani Reporting from Nablus, Occupied West Bank
Five Palestinians were injured, one critically, in an Israeli settler attack on the village of Yassouf, near Salfit, in the occupied West Bank, reports Mohamed Shtayyeh, a local journalist.
“Settlers had destroyed 200 olive trees in Yassouf on Friday so when people from the village came to survey the damage, they were attacked by Israeli settlers and soldiers,” he told Al Jazeera.
Three men from the village were wounded by live ammunition, and two others were attacked with stones and sticks. One had a knife held to his throat, said Abdullah Kamil, Salfit’s governor.
“For months, we have been warning that settler attacks will lead to an implosion – not just in Salfit but across the West Bank,” Kamil added.
