Juliette Touma, communications director at the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees, has told Al Jazeera that it is “absolutely critical” for fuel to come in to Gaza.
“It is critical for our own operations at UNRWA and fuel is also important to pump water into people’s taps,” she said.
Touma also welcomed the opening of the Rafah crossing which has allowed aid convoys to enter Gaza. But she stressed that it needs to continue and cannot be a “one-off” delivery of aid.
