The targets included fighters, military compounds, observation posts, antitank missile launch posts and tunnels, according to the Israeli army.
Separately, the army claimed to have uncovered an opening to Hamas’s tunnels adjacent to the Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza. During a news briefing, military spokesperson Daniel Hagari also played a video which he said showed Hamas fighters shooting at Israeli soldiers from inside the hospital.
It has not been possible to verify Hagari’s claims.
Israel has been targeting schools and hospitals on the basis of their claims that Hamas is using these facilities and civilian infrastructure as shields for its underground operations.
Hamas has repeatedly denied the claims, accusing the Israeli army of spreading lies and targeting civilians.
Since October 7, Israeli air strikes have repeatedly targeted hospitals, UN-run facilities, refugee camps, schools, mosques and churches, resulting in the killing of civilians, according to local health authorities.
