State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel did not provide additional details on the exact cause of the closure of the crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
Patel said the US’s “expectation is that once that [security] circumstance is resolved, the crossing will be opened at the regular intervals that it’s been opened” to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and allow foreign nationals and others to leave.
