More than 100,000 residents of the Gaza Strip have left southwards over the last two days as Israeli forces operate “deep in Gaza City,” chief military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.
Palestinians fleeing south have come under Israeli attack several times, the latest an attack against civilians using Salah al-Din Street earlier today, which Israel promised would be a safe route.
Survivors say many people have been injured and killed, and that no ambulances have been able to reach Salah al-Din road.
While many Palestinians families have chosen to make their way south, others remain trapped and unable to flee from the northern and central areas due to continuing Israeli bombardment.
