Unfortunately, there are a good number of veto-carrying members of the United Nations Security Council blocking any action on the part of the UN, both to take up the necessary resolutions and to carry them through in Gaza.
The position, notably of the United States and the United Kingdom, has not been productive for the work of the UN.
I’m not just talking generally, in terms of Israel and what it does and does not do, but just in terms of the continuing war crimes in the Gaza Strip because a lot of those UN staff were also killed in their homes; it wasn’t just a targeting or mistargeting.
It’s the indiscriminate nature of the bombings that the United States and others need to talk about and oppose and allow the UN to carry out their work peacefully.
