The Egyptian foreign minister has rejected comments by the Israeli finance minister about the displacement of Palestinians outside Gaza.
Sameh Shoukry said Bezalel Smotrich’s statement about the “voluntary displacement” of Palestinians, which we reported on earlier, “is an expression of the Israeli government’s policy that violates international laws”.
He called them part of a series of “irresponsible statements attributed to government officials” in Israel.
“Any attempt to justify and encourage the displacement of Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip is completely rejected by Egypt and internationally,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
