Doctors without Borders says bullets were fired into one of its three premises located near al-Shifa Hospital, where more than 100 people – including staff and their families – have taken shelter.
The group, which is also known by its French name Medecins Sans Frontieres, (MSF), added that those sheltering have run out of food.
“We’ve been trying to evacuate them for the past three days. MSF is asking the Israeli army and Hamas for safe passage for them to leave the epicentre of intense fighting currently ongoing in Gaza city,” it said on X.
MSF added that the thousands of people trapped in hospitals and other places in Gaza City must be given safe passage and reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire.
