Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday arrived in the Spanish city of Barcelona for the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit to discuss the Israel-Hamas war.
The ministerial committee headed by Prince Faisal discussed ways to end the conflict in Gaza as soon as possible.
Prince Faisal and the ministers also met with President of Spain José Manuel Albarez to discuss the developments in Gaza, and what the humanitarian truce has achieved so far by releasing some Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
The ministerial committee, which inlcudes ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, the Palestinian Authority, Indonesia and the Arab League stressed the importance of the international community taking all effective measures to ensure the implementation of international resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue, in order to ensure that the Israeli occupation is held accountable for the ongoing violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The delegation recently met with top diplomats from China, Russia, the UK, and France to discuss the ongoing war.
The ministerial committee called for an immediate stop to military escalation in Gaza to allow for a political process to move forward with the goal of negotiating a lasting peace.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Israel should be held “accountable for the blatant violations and crimes in the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank.”
