The media network, in a statement, says it “expresses its heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy” to correspondent Momin Alshrafi, his family and colleagues.
The network said that 22 of Alshrafi’s family were killed in the Israeli attack today at the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, including his mother and father and three of his siblings.
Several children in Alshrafi’s family were also killed in the attack.
The network said it “demands that the Israeli military is held accountable for the daily crimes committed against journalists and innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip”.
“Al Jazeera reaffirms that it will pursue all legal steps to holding accountable all those responsible for this crime,” it said.
