- ROSHN management aim to create an integrated urban environment that meets human needs and new categories of real estate projects that set new standards for real estate development
Jeddah: Officials from Saudi Arabia’s multi-asset class real estate developer on Wednesday held a foundation-stone laying ceremony for the MARAFY project, a transformative neighborhood north of Jeddah.
The event took place under the patronage of Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, and in the presence of Makkah Deputy Gov. Prince Saud bin Mishal and Jeddah Gov. Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi.
Implemented by ROSHN Group — a gigaproject of the Public Investment Fund — the ceremony marked the start of construction work on the developer’s largest mixed-use project, which will become a global destination for a modern lifestyle in the western region of the Kingdom.
The project is considered a milestone in ROSHN’s journey to build global destinations and new contemporary lifestyle experiences honoring Jeddah’s cultural and architectural heritage and inspired by the city’s historical designs and styles reinvented to adapt to current trends, while integrating the latest building technologies.
David Grover, group CEO of ROSHN Group, welcomed attendees and gave a presentation on MARAFY, which was officially announced in August.
The ceremony highlighted the 11 km MARAFY canal, which will form the backbone of the project and its urban areas, and the importance of the waterfront — comparable in size to those of Chicago, Stockholm, Hamburg, and central London — in revitalizing the urban landscape and connecting the Red Sea to create an urban water corridor, bringing the marine environment into the heart of a historic city.
It will also link homes and communities with nature, commerce, and life-enhancing amenities.
The development will feature world-class residential, retail, lifestyle, leisure, and entertainment facilities and infrastructure, creating an iconic new landmark in Jeddah and contributing to achieving the goals of Vision 2030 of including three Saudi cities among the 100 best cities to live in the world.
MARAFY’s waterside districts will be connected to each other and the rest of Jeddah by an intermodal transport system, including water taxis and ferries, buses, a dedicated metro station, and a direct canal link to the King Abdulaziz International Airport, facilitating trips between various destinations of the neighborhood.
ROSHN management aim to create an integrated urban environment that meets human needs and new categories of real estate projects that set new standards for real estate development.
