President Mahmoud Abbas today received at the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah the Secretary-General of the World Council of Churches, Professor Reverend Jerry Pillay and his accompanying delegation.
The President briefed World Council of Churches’s acting General Secretary Pillay on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territory and the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The President stressed the immediate urgency to stop the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and the deliberate policy of killing and detention.
He further stressed the need to oblige Israel to stop attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
President Abbas praised the efforts made by the World Council of Churches (WCC) to support the Palestinian people to gain their freedom and independence, highlighting its important role in delivering the suffering of the Palestinian people to the world.
