TOKYO, April 4. /TASS/. The Japanese government prohibited 164 categories of goods from being exported to Russia, the Japanese ministry of economy said.
The new trade restrictions will come into force on April 17.
Among the blacklisted goods are motor oils, lithium-ion batteries, pipes for oil and gas pipelines and nitrocellulose. Exports of Japanese-made yachts, recreational vessels, fireboats, drilling rigs and floating docks are also prohibited.
Besides, the blacklist mentions non-organic chemicals, such as hydrogen chloride and aluminium hydroxide, rhenium and its tailings, certain goods from non-precious metals, portable electric power and tools.
Apart from that, certain types of optical equipment and measurement tools were also prohibited for exports, such as microtomes and thermostats.
Besides, Japan will ban imports of non-industrial diamonds of Russian origin beginning from May 10. The ban applies to diamonds weighting 1 karat or more. Smaller diamonds will require permission from the minister of economy, trade and industry.
Russia has repeatedly criticized unilateral sanctions as illegitimate and ineffective.
