Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi received today in the Egyptian capital Cairo Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Mustafa.
The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas to Egyptian President Sisi, and congratulated him on the occasion of his taking the constitutional oath to assume a new presidential term,
Primer Mustafa further conveyed his appreciation to Egypt’s steadfast and historically supportive position for Palestine and its cause.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the Egyptian President on the government’s work agenda and priorities, most notably stopping the aggression against the Palestinian people, strengthening the effort to provide relief to the people in the Gaza Strip, the institutional reform program, and economic recovery.
The Prime Minister also discussed the latest developments in the West Bank, especially in Jerusalem, in light of the continued incursions of the occupation army, colonist attacks, restrictions, barriers, and land seizures for the benefit of colonist expansion.
Mustafa appreciated Egypt’s regional role and the efforts made with the Arab group in defending the Palestinian cause in all international forums, pushing towards a political horizon in order to end the occupation and find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, and embodying the establishment of the Palestinian State on the ground on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, the Egyptian President welcomed Prime Minister Mustafa, congratulated him on the formation of the new government, wishing it success, expressing readiness to provide all means of support to make its work successful.
President Sisi also stressed his keenness to complete efforts to stop the aggression and reach an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, to preserve the lives of the Palestinian people.
He affirmed that supporting the establishment of the Palestinian state and its embodiment on the ground is one of the constants of Egyptian policy.
Sisi pledged to exert more efforts to bring more relief and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, reiterating Egypt’s firm position rejecting the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, especially the Gaza Strip.
