President Mahmoud Abbas and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed today the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, especially the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, President Abbas briefed the Saudi Crown Prince on the efforts made to end the war of genocide and bring humanitarian and medical aid into the Gaza Strip.
He renewed Palestine’s categorical rejection of the displacement of any Palestinian, whether from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, warning of the danger of an Israeli ground invasion into Rafah which would lead to an unfathomable catastrophe against the Palestinian people.
The President also discussed the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He pointed to the ongoing invasion of Palestinian cities, towns and refugee camps by the occupation forces; in addition to the killings, the terrorizing of innocent civilians and the destruction of their properties. As well as the continued crimes and attacks of terrorist colonists on Islamic and Christian sanctities, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
He also reviewed the efforts of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations and the need to obtain further recognition of the State of Palestine by countries that did not yet recognize it.
President Abbas stressed the importance of resuming funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA); which provides aid and relief to about 6.4 million refugees, including two million refugees in the Gaza Strip who are subjected to ongoing Israeli aggression.
The President addressed the difficult economic and financial conditions that Palestine is facing as a result of the Israeli government’s continued withholding of Palestinian clearance funds.
He thanked the Saudi Crown Prince for inviting him to participate in the special meeting of the World Economic Forum hosted by Saudi Arabia, congratulating him on the convening of this successful conference.
He expressed his great appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its firm positions in support of the rights of the Palestinian people, most notably the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital and its efforts to support the Palestinian cause at all international forums.
The two leaders discussed the Palestinian-Saudi relations and ways to strengthen them in various fields, agreeing to continue coordination at all levels.
For his part, the Saudi Crown Prince renewed the Kingdom’s firm positions to support the Palestinian people until they achieve their legitimate rights to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed that the Kingdom will continue its tireless efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and accelerate the entry of humanitarian and relief aid.
