The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the ‘barbaric attack’ carried out by extremist Israeli colonial groups against the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement, OIC considered this to be an extension of organized terrorism and ongoing Israeli crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces and extremist colonists in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
OIC stressed that this serious attack comes in the context of the Israeli occupation’s attempts to undermine the role of UNRWA, distort it and dry up its funding sources, as the Israeli occupation destroyed more than 160 of the UNRWA’s facilities and killed about 188 of its employees since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, in clear violation of international humanitarian law and the relevant UN resolutions.
The OIC held Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the continuation of these crimes committed against the Palestinian people, United Nations agencies, as well as workers in humanitarian and relief organizations.
It also called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities towards stopping these crimes and repeated violations and underlined the necessity of providing international protection for the Palestinian people.
