Foreign and Expatriates Minister, D.Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, the efforts made to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, and rescue it from terrorism, and create conditions that allow the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
This came ahead of the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers for the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, which is hosted by Kingdom of Bahrain.
The two ministers stressed the importance of the role of the Arab Ministerial Liaison Committee concerned with Syria within the efforts made in the context of the Arab path to reach a solution to the crisis in Syria.
They also discussed a group of bilateral issues, including border security and combating drug smuggling. They also reviewed the results of communications conducted by the concerned authorities in the two countries to stop and eliminate smuggling operations.
They underlined their common keenness to continue consultation, coordination and develop cooperation relations in a way that reflects positively on the two brotherly countries.
During the meeting, talks dealt with ongoing efforts to stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and its disastrous humanitarian repercussions.
The two ministers also discussed the agenda of the Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting and ways to enhance coordination and cooperation regarding priority issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, and achieving security and stability in the region.
