Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh today met Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
During the meeting, Abu Rudeineh conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas’ greetings to al-Hakim, who serves as the head of al-Hakim National Wisdom Movement, as well as Abbas’ appreciation to Iraq for its positions on the Palestinian cause, while highlighting the depth of bilateral Palestinian-Iraqi relations.
Al-Hakim reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering positions on the Palestinian cause and expressed strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
He stressed the need for the immediate cessation of all systematic killings by Israel’s war machine of Palestinians and Iraq’s ongoing support to the Palestinian cause at the official and popular levels, particularly through providing assistance to Palestinians.
He commended the positions of the Arab countries that confronted Israel’s schemes designed to displace Palestinians and undermine the Palestinian cause, and that sought to safeguard the historical right of Palestinians to their land.
He rejected the policy of double standards applied by the international community against Israel, manifested, inter alia, in supplying weapons to Israel and displaying total disregard for the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza.
He affirmed his support for all international efforts aimed at bringing an end to the genocidal war and holding the perpetrators of genocide crimes to account.
The meeting was attended by State of Palestine’s ambassador to Iraq Ahmad al-Ruwaidi.
