PM Madbouly welcomed the US ambassador, affirming the strong strategic and historical relations between Egypt and the US and praising the constructive cooperation and active partnership over decades with successive American administrations, according to the Egyptian cabinet.
Their meeting included discussions on several visions and proposals that would promote bilateral relations in areas of priority for both countries.
Madbouly emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting these relations across various fields and removing all obstacles that hinder developing and expanding them to broader horizons.
Moreover, he expressed his appreciation for the US support for Egypt in many stages of their distinguished relations.
Madbouly noted the role of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in supporting the implementation of important projects in Egypt, especially in infrastructure development, enhancing health services, and supporting Egypt’s population programmes.
On the other hand, Ambassador Garg expressed her happiness with this meeting, emphasizing the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the two countries, especially amid the current regional challenges.
She highlighted the importance of cooperation and coordination between Cairo and Washington to support regional peace, security, and stability efforts.
Moreover, Garg affirmed that activating cooperation between both countries would be a key focus for the US embassy in the coming period.
She expressed her aspiration to continue cooperating in many fields, particularly economy and education.
Garg also highlighted the potential for cooperation in the energy sector due to Egypt’s strategic location, which qualifies it to collaborate with neighbouring countries in this vital field and play a pivotal regional role in energy.
The US ambassador pointed out that 1,200 American companies are operating in the Egyptian market, adding that these companies are clear evidence of successful cooperation between the two sides.
Furthermore, she expressed her country’s desire to support more direct American investments in Egypt.
According to the Central Bank of Egypt, the US was the fourth-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows to Egypt during FY2022/2023, following the UAE, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
American companies invested $2.3 billion in Egypt, accounting for 10 percent of the total FDI inflows.
