Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated Friday that Lebanon had the right to defend its land, sovereignty, and dignity by any available means.
“In the face of Israel’s systematic and dangerous escalation, which we have witnessed in the past few hours, we can only reaffirm our right to defend our land, sovereignty, and dignity by all available means. We will be unwavering in this choice, regardless of the sacrifices,” Mikati said during his visit to the country’s army headquarters.
The Lebanese government has informed all friendly states that Lebanon favors peace and seeks long-term stability.
However, achieving this requires the return of the Israeli-occupied territories in the south of the country and “Tel Aviv’s” fulfillment of its obligations under UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the prime minister stated.
“The security situation in Lebanon, from the south of the country to the Beqaa Valley and the southern suburbs of the capital, has been caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which destabilizes the lives of the Lebanese,” Mikati added
The past few days have witnessed significant upheavals amid ongoing aggressions on the part of the Israeli regime.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces carried out a strike on a suburb in Beirut, killing four civilians and injuring 74 others. Hezbollah commander Fouad Shokor was among those martyred.
Retaliation is inevitable
On Thursday, Secretary-General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced a new phase of confrontation with the Zionist regime, indicating an open battle on all fronts and stressing that stopping Israeli aggression on Gaza is essential to avoid further escalation.
He affirmed that Hezbollah would resume active operations by Friday and that any response to the assassination of Hajj Mohsein would be strategic and well-studied.
Sayyed Nasrallah noted that the resistance movement strengthens with the martyrdom of its leaders and warned that “Israel’s” actions have crossed significant red lines, promising a well-considered response from Hezbollah.
