Egypt reiterated to all concerned parties its rejection of any Israeli presence at the Rafah crossing or the Philadelphi corridor, an informed source told Al-Qahera News on Monday.
Egypt manages to mediate between the conflicting parties in Gaza in a way that aligns with its national security and safeguards the rights of the Palestinian people, the source said.
The source added that the Egyptian security delegation is working relentlessly to reach an agreement between Hamas and Israel, coordinating its efforts with partners in Qatar and the United States.
Both delegations from Hamas and Israel left Cairo on Sunday after meetings with Egyptian and Qatari mediators in the latest round for a ceasefire in the ongoing war in Gaza.
Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have been trying for months to reach a deal to end the more than 10-month-old Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s insistence on keeping troops on the 14-kilometre Philadelphi corridor along the Egypt-Gaza border has emerged as a key sticking point.
