President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reviewed the latest developments in Gaza and the Middle East and the bilateral relations between Egypt and Bulgaria in a phone call with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev on Monday.
During the call, El-Sisi reviewed the latest developments pertinent to the Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid, stressing the need to end the tragedy that the Palestinian people face in Gaza immediately.
He also explained that it is important for the international community to undertake a decisive role in the recognition of the Palestinian State, in a way that supports peace in the region and the two-state solution.
El-Sisi warned against the current escalation that puts the region on the brink of a regional war, which could result in grave consequences.
The call also touched on the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two presidents affirmed their determination to benefit from the success gained in recent years and to broaden cooperation across various fields, especially economy, trade, and energy, to achieve mutual benefit for the two countries.
For his side, the Bulgarian president expressed appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to contain the situation in the region and Egypt’s steadfast role in achieving regional peace and stability, stressing his keenness to continue coordination with El-Sisi to restore security and peace.
According to early Egyptian official statements in 2024, Bulgaria ranks 22nd among European Union countries investing in Egypt, with a total issued capital of approximately $47.69 million spread across 30 projects.
The investments are primarily in the industrial sector, followed by finance, services, construction, tourism, and communications and information technology.
Egypt is also Bulgaria’s biggest trade partner in the Middle East region according to its ambassador in Cairo Deyan Katratchev in March, where he stated that trade volumes between the two countries reached $1.1 billion in 2023.
