Israel released a photo showcasing the top Hezbollah leaders it has assassinated over the past month, following the official announcement by the Israeli military that they had successfully killed Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah. This came after a series of airstrikes targeting the Iranian-linked group’s command center in Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday night.
The image, shared by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighted prominent figures who were neutralized, including Nasrallah, Southern Front commander Ali Karki, Radwan Unit commander Ibrahim Aqil, and Fawad Shukur, responsible for Hezbollah’s military operations. Also featured were Wasem Tawil, who preceded Aqil as head of the Radwan Unit, and other key figures like Taleb Sami Abdullah, head of the Victory Unit, and Mohammed Nasser, commander of the Aziz Unit. These eliminations come amid ongoing clashes between Hezbollah and Israel since October 8.
The official Israeli account commented, “Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world.”
The Israeli military operation began with a series of preemptive, precision strikes aimed at crippling Hezbollah’s military leadership, weakening its ranks, and disrupting its communication capabilities. The campaign culminated in Friday’s large-scale attack in Beirut, where Israel claimed to have eliminated Nasrallah.
This extensive bombardment of Beirut’s southern suburbs follows a week of heavy airstrikes, marking one of the largest military operations in the 21st century, according to The British Times. The campaign started earlier this summer with an Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah’s general military commander, Fawad Shukur, in his southern Beirut stronghold.
Friday’s strike, however, marked a significant turning point with the announcement of Nasrallah’s death, ending his 32-year leadership of the U.S.-designated terrorist organization.
