The Israeli military announced on Sunday morning that it had carried out airstrikes on dozens of Hezbollah targets inside Lebanon over the past few hours.
In a statement, the Israeli army said, “Air Force fighter jets, under the guidance of the Northern Command, struck dozens of terrorist targets in Lebanese territory in the past hours.”
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 33 people were killed and 195 others were injured in Israel’s intense airstrikes on Lebanon on Saturday.
In recent days, fears have grown of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalating into a full-scale war, with Israel launching fierce attacks on various parts of Lebanon.
On Friday, Israel assassinated Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in a devastating airstrike on Beirut, delivering a significant blow to the Iran-backed group.
The Israeli military confirmed on Saturday that Nasrallah was killed in the strike, which targeted Hezbollah’s central command headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah confirmed the news without revealing further details.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Nasrallah’s death as a “necessary step toward altering the balance of power in the region for years to come.”
