Hezbollah released a statement on Saturday evening, disclosing the losses sustained by the Israeli army since it launched its ground operation in southern Lebanon.
The statement read: “In the past few days, since the Israeli enemy army declared the start of its ground operation toward southern Lebanese villages, the resistance has counted over 25 officers and elite soldiers killed, and more than 130 injured.” Hezbollah added that “the enemy has admitted to some of these figures, and the coming days will reveal what they have concealed from their public.”
Ongoing Escalations in Southern Lebanon
On Saturday evening, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli soldiers in the Menara settlement with a barrage of rockets, asserting that the attack resulted in “confirmed injuries.”
In response, Israeli airstrikes were launched, with five hitting southern Beirut early Sunday. Four of these airstrikes were described as “extremely violent,” particularly targeting the southern suburb, Hezbollah’s main stronghold. The Israeli army had previously warned civilians to evacuate buildings in the area.
The National News Agency reported that “the Israeli warplanes carried out four very intense airstrikes on the southern suburbs and one airstrike on the Choueifat area, with ambulances rushing to the scene.”
Reports from Sky News Arabia’s correspondent in Beirut confirmed another Israeli strike on Haret Hreik in southern Beirut on Saturday evening, alongside continuous airstrikes on various sites in the southern suburb and its surroundings, which led to large fires breaking out.
