The Gaza Civil Defense reported on Friday evening that 30 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Jabalia, located in the northern Gaza Strip. According to sources within the Civil Defense, several airstrikes hit the city and its refugee camp, including eight schools housing displaced people.
Ongoing Strikes and Humanitarian Crisis
Earlier on Friday, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) stated that thousands of people were trapped in Jabalia amid heavy Israeli bombardment. Israel claims the offensive is part of an effort to prevent Hamas from regrouping. Medics told Reuters that at least 61 Palestinians across Gaza were killed on Friday due to the ongoing Israeli attacks.
Historical Refugee Camp
Jabalia, the northernmost region of Gaza, is home to the largest historical refugee camp. Despite the high civilian toll, the Israeli army stated that it had killed “dozens of militants” in the area.
