A massive fire broke out late Monday in the gas unit of the Homs refinery, located in central Syria, as reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Firefighters at the refinery, along with local public authorities, successfully extinguished the fire after it spread to several lines containing petroleum products.
The refinery’s director, Akram Al-Ali, told SANA, “The fire was extinguished through joint efforts with all parties in Homs Governorate, and cooling operations are underway.”
He also confirmed that the damage was limited to material losses and that no casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to determine the reasons behind the incident.
