Yemeni Missiles Reveal Major Flaws in Israeli Defense Systems
Yemeni missiles launched towards Israel have exposed significant failures in Tel Aviv’s
sophisticated air defense systems, according to military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna.
This failure indicates deficiencies in both the air defense systems and the American THAAD
system, which are supposed to handle and intercept these missiles before they reach Israel, a
scenario that did not occur in many attacks, as per Hanna’s analysis.
The Israeli military radio confirmed intercepting two ballistic missiles launched from Yemen on
Monday evening, stating one was intercepted within Israeli airspace, which was refuted by the
Deputy Head of the Yemeni Media Authority, who insisted that the missiles reached the skies of
occupied Palestine without interception.
Hanna noted that Yemeni missiles might have been equipped with new technologies enabling
them to penetrate air defense systems, which also struggle with handling drones.
Israel Faces Challenges
The military expert highlighted that Yemen has now become a primary front alongside Gaza,
stating that Israeli strikes will not deter Yemen from continuing to launch missiles.
Israel faces a problem with the Yemenis due to the long distance and lack of intelligence,
necessitating significant American cooperation to overcome the distance barrier, according to
Hanna.
Israeli media reported that navigation was halted at Ben Gurion Airport, with planes being
diverted away following the missile launch from Yemen.
This is not the first time Yemenis have targeted the heart of Israel, having previously struck Tel Aviv with missiles and drones, prompting retaliatory airstrikes by the occupying army on the
capital Sana’a and the city of Hodeidah.
