Israeli Airstrikes Target Military Facilities in Aleppo
In a recent development, “Sky News Arabia’s” correspondent in Syria reported massive explosions in Aleppo, coinciding with news of Israeli airstrikes. According to Syrian media, these explosions were the result of Israeli airstrikes targeting defense factories in the Al-Safira area of Aleppo’s countryside.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented at least seven large explosions due to Israeli aircraft targeting defense factories and scientific research facilities in Al-Safira, with no immediate reports of human casualties.
Earlier on Thursday, the Tell al-Sahm military site in western Damascus was struck by an Israeli aircraft, leading to fierce explosions. Sputnik agency noted that the targeted site contained ammunition and weapon storage facilities.
Since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Israel has intensified its attacks on weapon and ammunition sites previously controlled by the Syrian army across various regions. Concurrently, the Israeli military has occupied several strategic locations along the Syrian border.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has recorded approximately 498 Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory since Assad’s regime fell on the morning of December 8. These strikes have targeted Syrian airports, weapon warehouses, aircraft squadrons, radar systems, military signal stations, and numerous ammunition depots across most Syrian provinces, including the complete destruction of scientific research centers.
Moreover, these Israeli operations have significantly disrupted Syrian air defense systems, highlighting the ongoing military tension in the region.
