Israel Unveils Another Ugly Face: Egyptian Ambassador Condemns Atrocities in Gaza
In a scathing denouncement, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Osama Abdelkhalek, condemned Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East situation and the Palestinian issue, Abdelkhalek accused Israel of executing a policy of forced displacement by targeting hospitals and killing civilians.
Abdelkhalek stated:
“Israel once again reveals its ugly face through its crimes, having targeted and killed over 45,000 martyrs, 70% of whom were women and children. It has destroyed Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and killed hundreds of UN staff.”
He further detailed, “Israel has now turned its barbaric guns towards the Palestinian health sector, launching a campaign of murder and destruction against hospitals, medical facilities, and staff. The latest chapter was the demolition of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, with the arrest of its medical team and several patients inside.” He criticized, “Israel continues to commit one crime after another, even boasting about it, due to the lack of deterrent punishment or international resolve to enforce UN resolutions, to stop violations of international law and the laws of war.”
Abdelkhalek questioned Israel’s impunity, “Israel knows it won’t be held accountable, so why not commit the next crime? This is part of a broader plan to render Gaza uninhabitable, stripping it of the basic necessities of life through various crimes, currently focusing on destroying the health
system as part of a systematic policy of forced displacement of the Palestinian people, attempting
to kill and liquidate their cause.”

He emphasized the Arab group’s demand for the Security Council to issue a resolution under
Chapter VII for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, to facilitate aid delivery and
halt the policy of forced displacement aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue. He also urged all
nations respecting international law to immediately halt weapons exports to Israel, depriving it of
tools used in the ongoing massacre in Gaza since 16 months ago.
Abdelkhalek called for Israel to be compelled, by all political and legal means, to execute Security
Council and General Assembly resolutions, including the International Court of Justice’s
provisional measures, and to ensure aid reaches civilians to save them from famine.
He pressed the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities under the UN Charter to force Israel
to immediately stop attacks on hospitals and civilian infrastructure, to unconditionally release
detained medical teams and patients, and to provide protection for them, in line with
international conventions.
He stressed the necessity of accountability for Israel’s repeated crimes, especially targeting
hospitals, doctors, and patients, which are among the ugliest forms of Israel’s ongoing crimes in
Gaza since October 2023, advocating for cooperation with international courts to prosecute those
responsible.
Abdelkhalek concluded by asserting that “Israel must understand well that all the criminal
actions it commits will not force the Palestinians to leave their land, nor will it make the Arabs,
along with all peace-loving countries, abandon them or their cause, which is their primary and
fundamental issue.”
This article aims to provide an in-depth look at the ongoing crisis in Gaza, focusing on the
international response and the implications of Israel’s actions under international law.
