Israel to Release Over 1,890 Palestinians in First Phase of Gaza Ceasefire
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that these releases will occur during the first 42-day phase of the ceasefire, which is scheduled to commence on Sunday at 8:30 AM local time. The ministry emphasized the mediators’ commitment to ensuring the implementation of the agreement in its three phases within the agreed timelines, aiming to end the humanitarian crisis that has plagued Gaza’s residents for over a year due to Israeli military operations. These operations have resulted in more than 50,000 martyrs and over 100,000 injured, predominantly children and women, alongside a total collapse of the region’s infrastructure, rendering it uninhabitable.

Egypt also expressed gratitude towards Qatar for its fruitful and continuous cooperation in achieving the ceasefire agreement. Additionally, Egypt acknowledged the pivotal role played by the new US administration led by President-elect Donald Trump in resolving the crisis, alongside President Joe Biden
