Egypt Illuminates Its Tallest Tower with the “Turkish Flag”
On Wednesday evening, Egypt illuminated its Iconic Tower in the New Administrative Capital with the colors of the Turkish flag, marking a grand celebration of 100 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey.
The event took place in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Saleh Mutlu Şen, alongside several representatives of local media, as reported by an Anadolu Agency correspondent. Standing at 394 meters, the Iconic Tower is the tallest building in Egypt and across Africa.
Commenting on the occasion, Tamim Khallaf, the spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on the “X” platform: “The Iconic Tower in the New Administrative Capital is lit up to celebrate the centennial of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey.” He added, “This milestone underscores the mutual appreciation between the two friendly nations, their deep historical ties, and diplomatic relations built on cooperation and the promotion of the interests of the Egyptian and Turkish peoples.”

Khallaf also shared images showing the Iconic Tower adorned with the colors of both the Turkish and Egyptian flags, a symbolic gesture reflecting the strength and depth of the relationship between the two countries.
It’s worth noting that diplomatic relations between Turkey and Egypt officially began in 1925. Over the decades, these ties have witnessed significant developments, highlighting the historical bonds and ongoing collaboration between the two nations.
The Iconic Tower, surpassing the height of the Cairo Tower, is Egypt’s tallest structure. At approximately 385 meters—nearly half the height of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower—it is poised to become Africa’s tallest skyscraper. This architectural marvel represents a significant achievement in the world of skyscrapers due to its towering height.
