Lebanese Government Led by Nawaf Salam Gains Parliament’s Confidence
The Lebanese government, headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, has secured the confidence of the Lebanese Parliament with a strong majority of 95 votes.
Voting to grant confidence to Nawaf Salam’s government began in the Lebanese Parliament earlier on Wednesday evening. The government ultimately received the approval of 95 out of 128 MPs, marking a significant step forward for the administration.
For two consecutive days, the Lebanese Parliament held sessions to discuss the ministerial statement, paving the way for the confidence vote. This followed both morning and evening sessions on Tuesday, culminating in Wednesday’s decision to support Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s leadership.
In his closing remarks during the confidence session, Salam emphasized that the Lebanese government is committed to rallying Arab and international support to compel Israel to停止 violating Lebanese sovereignty.
Before the voting began, Nawaf Salam addressed the parliament, saying, “We will not compromise on oversight and accountability. We will activate public administrations, combat waste and bribery, and work to improve the conditions of employees and military personnel. Additionally, we will prepare new legislative projects to drive progress.”
Salam further stressed, “Yes, we are a united government, and we will demonstrate this through our actions. We will adopt a language of dialogue and prioritize the supreme national interest in our efforts toward reform and state-building.”
