Saudi Arabia Condemns Crimes by Outlaw Groups in Syria
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the crimes committed by outlaw groups in the Syrian Arab Republic, particularly their targeting of security forces. The Kingdom reiterated its unwavering support for the Syrian government’s efforts to maintain security, stability, and civil peace.
Saudi Arabia Stands with Syria
The Saudi statement emphasized solidarity with Syria as it combats these rogue factions. The Ministry highlighted the importance of preserving order amid escalating violence in various regions of the country.
Curfews Imposed Across Syrian Cities
Earlier reports from the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) detailed security measures in response to the unrest. In Latakia, the Public Security Department imposed a curfew until 10:00 AM on Friday. Similarly, in Homs, a general curfew was enforced from 10:00 PM Thursday to 8:00 AM Friday. Tartous followed suit, announcing a curfew from 10:00 PM Thursday to 10:00 AM Friday.
Clashes with Armed Groups Linked to Suheil Al-Hassan
On Thursday, Syrian security forces reported engaging in clashes with armed groups in western Syria. These factions are allegedly loyal to Suheil Al-Hassan, a former prominent officer in Bashar al-Assad’s regime. According to SANA, the Director of Latakia’s Security Department stated, “The armed groups clashing with our forces in rural Latakia are followers of war criminal Suheil Al-Hassan.”
Violence Targets Checkpoints and Patrols
Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kunaifati, head of Latakia’s Public Security Department, accused remnants of “Assad militia groups” of attacking government checkpoints and patrols in the Jableh area. He confirmed that the confrontations resulted in casualties, with both deaths and injuries reported among security personnel.
Ongoing Efforts to Restore Stability
The Syrian government continues its operations to neutralize these threats, while Saudi Arabia’s condemnation underscores regional concern over the deteriorating situation. The Kingdom’s stance reflects a broader call for stability in Syria amid challenges posed by outlaw factions.
