Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Friday, received a phone call from his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp. Veldkamp stressed that his country attaches great importance to friendly relations with Jordan, and that the Dutch government is keen to develop relations with Jordan in various fields, and highly valued its role in the region. The Dutch government respects Jordan and its role and supports the two-state solution as a means of bringing about peace in the region. Veldkamp distanced his government from remarks made by a Dutch representative that criticized Jordan and Palestine. He…
Iran’s interim foreign minister says the United States’ unilateral approach to international issues has proven to be a failure, stressing that Washington is not part of the solution, but an obstacle in the path of peace. Speaking to reporters in New York on Friday, Ali Bagheri Kani criticized the US’s withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and its export of weapons to Israel amid the regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. “The Americans’ claims that unilateralism can bring about peace, stability and security to the world have failed,” he said.…
Riyad al-Maliki, President Mahmoud Abbas’s Advisor for International Affairs and Special Envoy, hailed today the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ)—concerning the Israeli occupation of Palestine—as a pivotal moment for Palestine, justice, and international law. During a press conference held by the Palestinian delegation following the ICJ’s ruling, al-Maliki stated, “We have always said that justice will inevitably prevail, and today the International Court of Justice and its judges have fulfilled their duty by deciding that the Israeli occupation is illegal. They declared that settlements are illegal and must be dismantled, and all settlers must be…
Foreign boots on the ground in the Gaza Strip have been suggested as a solution for “the day after” plans put forward under the auspices of the United States of America. The plan comes under the pretense of a multinational “stabilization” mission for the Gaza Strip and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) becomes the first to publicly show willingness to deploy forces as part of this mission. According to the Financial Times, the UAE’s announcement conditioned that the US provided a leadership role and supported efforts towards the establishment of a Palestinian State. Lana Nusseibeh, special envoy to the UAE foreign ministry, told…
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani says a resolution passed by the Israeli parliament (Knesset), which rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state, “once again showed the world the racist nature of the Zionists’ usurping regime”. “The apartheid regime of Israel is not only a threat to the Palestinian nation, but also a threat to the international peace and security,” he wrote in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. The spokesman stressed that the Palestinian nation has the right to resist and fight against the occupiers until they restore all their rights, amid the “inaction”…

In statement to MPs, Lammy said UK aid funding to Gaza is a ‘moral necessity in the face of such a catastrophe’. The Foreign Secretary also reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire to secure the release of hostages and end the suffering in Gaza, following his visit to the region earlier this week. The Foreign Secretary has announced that…

Donald Trump announced his consent to be a candidate for the presidency from the Republican Party during the November election. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) today issued an advisory opinion finding Israel’s decades-long occupation of the Palestinian territories to be “unlawful” and should be brought to an end “as rapidly as possible.” Delivering the court’s findings, ICJ President Nawaf Salam said that Israel must make reparations to Palestinians for damages caused by its occupation, adding that the UN Security Council, the General Assembly and all states have an obligation not to recognize Israel’s occupation as legal. “The sustained abuse of Israel of its position as an occupying power through annexation and an assertion of permanent control over the occupied…
US President Joe Biden is expected to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race in the near future, according to a Friday report by Newsmax. Citing multiple sources, Newsmax commentator Mark Halperin said that Biden, 81, had agreed to step down as a candidate, with the announcement likely to occur as early as this weekend, most probably on Sunday. Despite his prospected decision to withdraw, Biden will continue his duties as the sitting president. Most notably, however, Biden will not be endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Instead, he is expected to support an open selection process, allowing the Democratic presidential candidate…
