By Elijah J. Magnier For several weeks now, much of the Lebanese population has turned on the country’s traditional political leaders and wrought havoc on the corrupt domestic political system. Those who have ruled the country for decades have offered little in the way of reforms, have paid little attention to the infrastructure, and done little or nothing to provide job opportunities outside the circle of their clients. The protestors were also driven into the street by the US measures strangling the Lebanese economy and preventing most of the 7-8 million expatriates from transferring financial support (around $8 billion per year)…
Greece is expelling the Libyan ambassador to the country, angered at an accord between Libya and Turkey, signed on November 27, which maps out a sea boundary between the two countries, close to Crete. Mohamed Younis AB Menfi has 72 hours to leave the country, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias told reporters on Friday. The Turkey-Libyan accord was a “blatant violation of international law,” Dendias said. Ankara is backing Libya’s internationally recognized government. The agreement on maritime boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea between Turkey and the Tripoli-based government could complicate disputes over energy exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Turkish drilling has…

The Israeli military has reportedly tested a propulsion system used for carrying nuclear-capable and other missiles, with the occupying entity’s media billing the alleged display as “a show of force aimed at Iran.” The test was carried out at Palmachim Airbase south of Tel Aviv on Friday, Israeli television channel i24 News reported. The military “conducted a launch test a few minutes ago of a rocket motor system,” Israel’s Ministry for Military Affairs said in a statement, the channel said. “The test was scheduled in advance and was carried out as planned,” the statement added. The involved system, it added,…
By: Darius Shahtahmasebi China, the world’s second-largest economy, appears to be in the process of carving out a new Middle East plan that will over time erode and chip away at American dominance in the region. Granted, Washington’s influence in the Middle East has been steadily disappearing for some time. It became clear this was the case after the US toppled an anti-Iranian dictator, Saddam Hussein, in Iraq and replaced his government with a pro-Tehran Shia-dominated leadership. However, things really took a turn for the worse some years later in Syria, which saw Russia emerge as a major power whose…
US President Donald Trump revealed Friday that Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud offered his sympathies in a recent phone call following the news that the shooter of the Florida naval station attack was a Saudi aviation trainee. Trump stated in a mid-Friday tweet that King Salman had indicated that the incident “in no way shape or form” represents Saudi nationals. “King Salman of Saudi Arabia just called to express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies to the families and friends of the warriors who were killed and wounded in the attack that took place in Pensacola,…
For the second time in two days, a deadly shooting has occurred at a US Navy base leaving at least four people dead and several others injured. Four people including the suspected shooter were killed and seven others were injured on Friday at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, said the Escambia County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office. The suspected shooter was believed to be a Saudi national who was in the United States for training, two US defense officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity, according to the Reuters news agency. The shooting was over and the shooter was killed but the base remained on…
A US military base at al-Omar oil field in the southeastern Syrian province of Deir Ez-Zor was attacked by unknown assailants on Friday, Al-Ikhbariya broadcaster reported. The attack coincided with the arrival of trucks with military equipment at the base, according to the broadcaster. US soldiers reportedly responded with shelling and stun grenades. US Defence Secretary Mark Esper said earlier in the week that US troops in northeastern Syria had finished re-manoeuvring as needed and that the total number of troops on the ground would remain at around 600. The movement of US forces has been causing much uncertainty in Syria since…
By Andrew Korybko The Mainstream Media is pushing forth the weaponized narrative that the Iranian government is carrying out a cover-up of mass killings that supposedly occurred during its recent unrest, though this is nothing more than an infowar conspiracy designed to make the majority of the non-violent citizens that participated in the large-scale protests suspicious of the state as well as further discredit the country’s international reputation. Amnesty International scandalously cited unpublished and vaguely described “credible reports” to claim that over 200 people were killed during Iran’s recent unrest, adding that “the real figure is likely to be higher”. This accusation is…
By Shane Quinn Africa now contains 1.3 billion inhabitants, almost twice that of Europe’s population, and the number of African people continues expanding rapidly in what comprises the world’s second biggest continent. Following five centuries of pillage and exploitation by Western imperial powers, Africa is today riddled with poverty and social injustice. Africa remains a sought after land mass for the world’s strongest states. One of the reasons for this is that two African nations, Libya in the north and Nigeria further south, contain the world’s 9th and 10th largest oil reserves respectively. Among the motives behind the March 2011 United…
