Lithuanian Economy Minister Ausrine Armonaite has issued a call for citizens to finance the country’s defense industry, telling them to “invest in tanks” rather than keep hold of their savings.

BRUSSELS, January 17. /TASS/. The European Union member states “have given initial backing” to the idea of sending a naval mission defending ships in the Red Sea, the Reuters news agency reported citing own sources.

The German economy shrank by 0.3% year-on-year in 2023 after being hit by high inflation, soaring energy prices, and weak foreign demand, the Federal Statistical Office has reported. 

Gazprom supplies gas for Europe through Ukraine in the volume of 42.4 mln cubic meters (mcm) per day via the Sudzha gas pumping station in Russia’s Kursk Region, a Gazprom representative told reporters, adding that the request for pumping through Sokhranovka had been rejected by the Ukrainian side.
