The Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Export Development said on Monday that it is reviewing the terms of the free trade agreement with Turkey, with the aim of reducing the growing trade deficit with Ankara.The ministry explained, in a statement, that “limiting the worsening of the trade balance deficit with Turkey will be through expanding the negative list of products not concerned with differential standards, with a focus on products that have an analogue manufactured locally, and on sectors that are going through difficulties as a result of the intensification of imports of Turkish origin,” according to Agency Tunisia Africa News.
The Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Export Development also revealed “the most important reform programs that are being implemented, such as protecting many industrial sectors from intensifying imports and illegal practices when supplying, working to defend exports against commercial defense measures taken against them from other countries, and providing additional incomes to the state treasury, through the protectionist measures that are imposed.”
