The Russian Defense Ministry says a frigate of the Russian Black Sea fleet received an “urgent” directive to strike Ukrainian military infrastructure with Kalibr cruise missiles.
A frigate from the Russian Black Sea Fleet has launched four Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukrainian armed forces facilities, as announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday.
The Russian Defense Ministry disclosed that the frigate, while on a mission in the Black Sea, received an “urgent” directive to strike Ukraine’s military infrastructure with Kalibr cruise missiles. The objective was to carry out the attack in the shortest possible timeframe.
According to the ministry’s statement, the salvo launch was executed successfully, with the designated targets confirmed to have been hit.
“Black Sea Fleet warships are successfully fulfilling designated tasks,” the ministry emphasized, as it commented on a related video.
The statement highlighted the collaborative efforts of surface ships of various classes, naval aviation planes, and helicopters patrolling the waters of the Crimean Peninsula. Their mission includes the detection and elimination of Ukrainian drone boats and high-speed landing boats, as well as monitoring the airspace.
A lost war
Only a few days ago, eleven Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defenses over the districts of Kaluga, Bryansk, Tula, and Moscow, according to a statement issued by the Russian Defense Ministry. Later in the day, Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Bryansk Region, reported that another Ukrainian drone had been fired toward the Bryansk area.
While Russia keeps intercepting and confronting Ukraine’s hits, sentiments of a “lost war” in Ukraine have prevailed, specifically from ex-Pentagon advisor and retired US Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor. Macgregor has revealed that the US has dispatched almost its war stock to Ukraine, criticizing its policy and calling for peace.
Despite the EU’s consistent support for Ukraine, EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell remarked that the European Union faces several challenges, notably the Ukraine conflict, noting that Russia’s defeat in the near term is not anticipated.
